Smosh raises more than $250,000 for Food Battle: The Game

Smosh launched an Indiegogo campaign to create a 3D single-player action adventure game. The duo received valuable feedback on exactly what their audience wanted to see and took each comment into account when designing the game. The final product can now be played on PC, Android and iOS devices thanks to contributions from 2,937 funders.

 

Lava Mae Transforms Cities Across the US

Doniece Sandoval launched an Indiegogo campaign to transform San Francisco’s decommissioned city buses into showers for the homeless. The campaign raised more than $58,000 and now many urban spaces across the US are asking when it will be coming to their towns. Doniece ran a second campaign raising nearly $52,000 a year later.

Canary, a New York-based consumer products company, launched an Indiegogo campaign raising almost $2 million to produce a revolutionary home security system. The organization has now raised $10 million in funding from Khosla Ventures and has begun shipping to contributors.

Google Acquires Lift Labs

Through their Indiegogo campaign, Lift Labs raised and matched funds to gift over 120 Liftware devices to the National Parkinson’s Foundation and Essential Tremor Foundation. In September 2014, Google acquired Lift Labs to join Google’s Life Sciences, a division of Google X that focuses on long-term projects.

Couple from Canada Makes Moves to the Big Screen

Jeremy LaLonde and Jennifer Liao from Ontario, Canada raised more than $61,000 on Indiegogo to bring their film Sex After Kids, a feature about married life, to the people. The film screened at nearly a dozen film festivals and was theatrically released in Canada. The team has run another campaign for their second film, raising nearly $123,000.

A Couple from Idaho Raises More than $2 Million for Solar Roadways

Julie and Scott Brusaw, a small-town couple from Sagle, Idaho, launched a campaign to bring their invention of solar roadways, pavement that generates power, to the limelight. The two doubled their goal of $1 million and even received an invitation to the 2014 White House Maker Faire.

Don Cheadle Connects with his Fans to Honor Miles Davis

When Don Cheadle began creating his latest film, a Miles Davis biopic, he used Indiegogo to connect directly with his fans and raised more than $340,000. Cheadle has wrapped the film in Cincinnati and will now prepare the finished film for the festival circuit, as well as find a distributor.

Charles Yim launched a campaign for Breathometer, a keychain breathalyzer, and the campaign raised over $138,000, more than five times its goal of $25,000. Breathometer also became the most successful Shark Tank pitch in history when all five sharks agreed to invest together, including Mark Cuban, Daymond John and Kevin O’Leary.

Skybell Makes Doorbells Smarter

Andrew Thomas and his team raised more than $583,000 to manufacture Skybell, a smart doorbell, in late 2013. Skybell went on to be named an International CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards Honoree and at WWDC 2014, Apple announced that Skybell would be part of HomeKit, Apple’s home automation initiative.

Freddie Wong Releases Part 3 of His Webseries

Freddie Wong and his production company RocketJump launched their third crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo to tap into a global audience. The team raised nearly $900,000 to release Season 3 of the webseries Video Game High School and RocketJump has since partnered with Lionsgate.
